We decided at the last minute to take the boys to Day Out with Thomas down in New Haven, KY. I've been wanting to take them every year but kept wavering because of the cost. (I think the Historic Railroad Museum makes their yearly revenues based solely off this event! Holy Moley!) The final straw was when I looked at my baby asleep in the back seat one day desperately clutching his Thomas book that he carries everywhere, everyday. After all, how many more years is he going to be enthralled by Thomas? Time is going too quickly.
Sir Topham Hatt. Brock kept a close eye on him and thankfully he didn't try to interact with us in any way!
Thomas chugging into the station! Toot Toot!!
One of the favorite areas for Daddy. The lego depot! They had tons of Thomas Legos and train sets set up for everyone to play with.
Mr. Serious. They had a put-put golf course set up and the boys had fun at that.
A train built entirely of Legos. The car behind it was a display of all the lego pieces that go to the set that we got Brock for Christmas last year. Fortunately since it was the last train ride on the last day everything was sold out in the store or otherwise we would have been tempted!
Aidan absolutely loved the train ride although he was quite concerned about the whole moving "backward" thing. Once he realized that we were going to back up half the way and then return to the station "forwards" he was ok! They have a Civil War Great Train Robbery in the fall at the
Bluegrass Railway museum in Versailles which I've got on the calender to take him to as he was disappointed in how long the actual train ride was. (only 25 min) The one in the fall is an hour long and they have period actors displaying all kinds of things about the life and times during the civil war. I think he'd really like it and it will be something to look forward to!
On the way home we had to stop by DQ and get some treats to celebrate Brock's birthday trip!
